2012 has been a pretty terrible music year so far IMO. Only a couple of good albums and not an awful lot of great singles either - which is why it's been quite a while since I last posted some tracks. But I did manage to get some songs together that make up a selection of everything from the excellent to the tacky goodness we all adore. So here goes:
Finally got around to listening to these, sorry... I agree, compiling a regular "Pick of the Pops" is a bit difficult this year, however we can always pick out a few gems. You already know I love Sam and the Womp (who have just gone straight in at No 1 in the UK), Scissor Sisters, Kamaliya and Bimbo Boy, but what of the rest?
ReplyDeleteMr George appears to be morphing into Antony Hegarty more and more, especially on a mournful song like Lana Del Ray's. Speaking of mournful, I look forward to the day a Bat For Lashes song doesn't send me straight to the Prozac!
So to the party girls. I think we get the picture that she is Dina Nah, and not, definitely not, just another GaGa-wannabee with a shouty voice. The Russian one is quite jolly, in a sub-Eurovision sort of way. The Greek one? Lovely sailor boys, but hasn't this song been done (better) before by Danni Minogue?
And so to the real corkers. I love ItaLove - that song took me right back to the classic Hi-NRG era of the mid-80s; I am so craving poppers and dry ice now! And I'd love to meander through that Man Meadow - mmmmmmmmmmm... Fantabulosa! Jx

ReplyDeleteSadly I dont have any news on the release date of the BG album, but I will post a blog about it as soon as any further news have been made available.
ReplyDeleteHe is however ((along with DJ Yoda) releasing a new dance single next month. It's called "Happy".
Hopefully we will have the covers album soon!
