With over 60,000 copies sold, Cher's 25th solo studio album Closer To The Truth has debuted at #3 on the US Billboard 200, becoming her highest ever debut on the chart and her highest-charting solo album in the US. Prior to the new album, Cher's highest solo peak position on the US chart was #4 -
accomplished with 2003's The Very Best of Cher and 1998's Believe.
Her previous highest debut on the chart was #7 - again,
accomplished with The Very Best of Cher. Her previous highest debut with a
studio album was #9 - with her last one, 2002's Living Proof (released in Europe in 2001)
This week's Billboard 200 top 5:
1. Nothing Was The Same - Drake
2. Mechanical Bull - Kings of Leon
3. Closer To The Truth - Cher
4. Diving Board - Elton John
5. Crash My Party - Luke Bryan
Outside of her solo career, Cher only reached higher on the
Billboard 200 with Sonny & Cher's 1965 #2 debut album Look At Us. The
presence of her new album means that her span of US Top 3 albums exceeds 48
years - which is an accomplishment shared by few artists. Closer To The Truth is her 41st hit album on the Billboard 200 - and her 25th solo.
Congrats to a true diva - so good to have you back honey!
