The classic film (and one of my all time favorites),
Carrie, is being remade (what a shocker!). While I am 100% convinced that the remake will certainly not do anything to top the original, this little publicity stunt for the film is rather inventive (despite the dreadful acting). This is exactly the sort of thing that keeps happening to me at the local coffee shop...

I have only one comment to make about ANY remake of a classic film such as this - WHY?
Jx
Well, sadly, as time goes on it seems that younger generations are completely unaware or just not interested in older films. "Carrie" was 18 years old when I saw it and at the time there were some people my age that were familiar with it, but not that many. The film is now 37 years old, so I can only imagine how many kids under 20 even know it exists. For better or for worse, at least these remakes bring the stories back and hopefully in some cases inspires people to see the original films.
Seems like a similar thing tends to happen with foreign films. A lot of people don't want to see films with subtitles, so presto: a remake in English is in the theaters before you know it...
But will it be any good? I doubt it. Modern takes on old classics tend to be terrible. Jx
PS According to the news reports, some of those people in the promo in the café were not actors...
Only the girl and the guy on the wall were actors, the others were just customers. Imagine that happening at the local Starbucks...
And I agree 100%: the modern takes on the classics usually leave a lot to be desired...
