R.I.P...

Disco singer Loleatta Holloway has died at the age of 64 following a brief illness.

The news of death was announced by her manager Ron Richardson last night (March 21).

The singer was best known for her 1980 hit single 'Love Sensation', a track which was later sampled by UK dance group Black Box for their 1989 Number One single 'Ride On Time'. She did not receive credit or payment for that recording and did successfully sue the band in the early 90s.

Holloway recorded extensively between 1973 and 1980, producing six studio albums. Later in her career she did vocals for Marky Mark and Capella, and recorded a version of "Like A Prayer" for the Madonna tribute album Virgin Voices.

so sad...one of my all time faves. She also sang on "relight my fire" with Dan Hartman. (one of the very first songs I danced to in a gay club.) RIP
