Don't Cry For Us Argentina...

Pet Shop Boys: We're in control of our destiny

Pet Shop Boys are of course releasing a new album this month!

File:Pet Shop Boys - Electric.png

Electric has been receiving rave reviews across the board (4 and 5 stars out of 5), with many mentioning the track "Love Is a Bourgeois Construct" as one of their best tracks - ever! Their take on Bruce Springsteen's "The Last To Die" is said to transform a song about the Iraq war into a song about the AIDS epidemic. "Thursday" is described as an instant anthem that would probably be an instant #1 hit from any of the below mediocre "popstars" that currently rule that charts. I am of course ever so excited!

The album will be released on CD and LP on July 15th (and both shall be mine!)."Vocal" will be released as a CD single on July 22nd (and it too shall be mine!). Here is the tracklist:

1. Vocal (Album Mix)
2. Vocal (Rektchordz Dub)
3. Vocal (Armageddon Turk Teargas Mix)
4. Vocal (The Cucharachas Mix)
5. Vocal (JRMX Club Mix)
6. Vocal (Ivan Gomez & Nacho Chapado Mix)
7. Vocal (Rektchordz Mix)
8. Vocal (Wawa Extended Mix)
9. Vocal (The Cucharachas Dub)

UPDATE:

It now seems the single will be released on July 29th.

Below is a recording from their current tour. It features selections from a recent show in Argentina - hopefully we will get an official DVD with the full setlist at a later time.

I am really looking forward to it!

Coincidentally, I am currently listening to Neil and Chris with Dave Pearce on his Dance Years show on BBC Radio 2, featuring tracks from the album and the boys talking about their musical influences. It is fab - catch it if you can...

I'll certainly try - I always love when the boys talk about their musical influences.

I am actually listening right now to loads of their B-sides - one must warm up before the album ;)

As always, I have resisted to check out the leaks. Glad to hear you like, this will easily be one of THE albums of 2013 for me!

BTW, I I listened to Elysium once again earlier today. While there are a couple of tracks that should have been left as B-sides, it's still a pretty solid album. And then there are the rather fabulous B-sides (I am a bit hooked on their version of "I Started A Joke" by Bee Gees at the moment).

I can imagine it's the album of the year, especially this has been a very bad year so far in music! But order is restored now, with PSB and Cher on the way!

I wonder if we will get any B-sides from this album? So far it doesn´t look like it - a shame, since I love almost all of their B-sides and in some cases they are even better then many of the album tracks...

Anyways, Electric is out in a week. I can't wait to get the CD and the LP!
