How fab! Another journey of musical discovery. So, here goes.
Firstly, I must make the assertion that Miss Amanda Lear stands in a class all of her own, and I think it unfair to make any comparisons with other artists. She is utterly marvellous. A Goddess, to be worshipped. Full stop. Onward and upwards...
I'm no fan of drum'n'bass, so Kids of the Apocalypse was a bit of a no-no. You are more than well aware of my feelings about Gaga, so let's brush over that one. And that Liza Fox choon certainly has been around a while - it pissed me off back in 2012, and it's no better now. To make an annoying song even more annoying takes some skill.
Morten Harket's ballad is downright depressing. I had to switch it off in case it had bagpipes on it. And the Zedd thing reminded me a bit too much of Bryan Adams, so that was enough to make me scream "stop"!
I admit the whole "Lorde-mania" thing has passed me completely by. She's sort of OK, but I can't get worked up about her. Our own homegirl Paloma Faith is a bit better, and this is a good song. However I sometimes wish she wouldn't "over-act" her vocals quite so much; she's in danger of getting completely melded together with Lana del Rey if she's not careful!
RuPaul is always good fun - and the (ahem!) very talented Mr Julian Serrano certainly makes for an interesting (ahem!) viewing experience! Speaking of fab videos - Ingrid Michaelson has certainly pulled out all the stops, for what in the end sounds like a bad Martika impression. And that Miss Loboda's had so much collagen in her lips I think she wants to be RuPaul. Or maybe Amanda Lepore. The song's OK. As for Viagra Zhiva? The video looks like a perfume commercial, and their name sounds like it could be one - the song is OK, though, even if it does sound like a Modern Talking B-side.
Le Youth's song is insanely catchy. Is it a cover? Sounds familiar. As does Betty Who's song - shades of early Madonna/Cyndi, methinks... (No bad thing, of course.) And speaking of catchy, I do like the Clean Bandit one (although with a stronger vocal it would be even better). It must be destined for the charts, I reckon - such a summery sound. Sigh.
Speaking of vocals, Miss Kimberly David has a magnificent pair of tonsils! She could show some of those so-called "stars" (Mrs Carter, Miss Germanotta or Miss Fenty) just how it should be done... Brilliant - (Miss Lear aside) the Dave Aude mix of "With You" is absolutely, 100% the best of the selection. For a moment I thought I was back in 1993...
I may have to borrow it for my own compilation - I am well overdue one, after all. Watch this space.
Gaga has been quite off her mark and continues to be so with this new single - not bad but nothing special either. I still think she's capable of releasing better stuff (her Fame Monster album remains very, very good). The Morten song is really beautiful - just not appropriate when you´re in the clubbing mood ;) As for Zedd, he is my dance prince and I will hear nothing bad about him (and dragging Bryan bloody Adams into this is just blasphemy and I shall ignore it completely) ;)
I agree about the Clean Bandit song - good song that would have been even better with stronger vocals (I guess Kimberly wasn't available).
As for Lorde, I can't stand "Royal" and I'm not really that crazy about her either. But I must admit that "Team" has really creeped up on me, maybe because she is trying her best to be Miss Lana Del Rey. And obviously, there is only ONE Lana! Still, a good song.
RuPaul is an absolute queen, like Lady Loboda has obviously released too! I love the new RuPaul album, I love the single and I love the video (a cute Latin boy shaking his money maker is not to shabby for the Galaxy). The video for Ingrid Michaelson is really quite good, I love the song and yes, it does remind me of Martika!
The Le Youth song is not a cover (to my knowledge) but it samples TLC and has 19 (!!!!) writers credited for it! As for Miss Who, I like the song a lot more then I thought I would - and she looks like she could be the daughter of Hazell Dean too!
I shall watch this space, looking forward to your next selection as always.

Most importantly, keep up the good work! Jx
