Tracks...

As regular readers may have noticed, the blog hasn't been updated much lately. The main reason for that is because I have been extremely busy over the last few weeks. New management took over the place where I work and that has meant quite a few meetings, changes in the workplace etc. I had intended to keep on working there but something else unexpectedly came up.

I have been in talks this month with another company and as a result I will be starting a brand new job next week, running a business I don't really know anything about (!). However, I have decided it is time to move on to other things and hopefully this will be a fun new challenge.

But on to the business at hand - yes, it's time again for some tracks/videos that have caught my attention lately. This lot includes the return of Infernal (as Paw & Lina) as well as a comeback from Miss Marianne Faithfull. There are also two songs that feature Ariana Grande, although I'm not even a big fan! However, "Problem" has been sneaking up on my all summer and "Break Free" not only features dance prince Zedd but also a video inspired by the world of a certain Barbarella!

The highlight here though has to be the excellent "Monument" by Royksopp and Robyn! Hope you'll find something to enjoy here :)

Loving London...

Singer Marianne Faithfull loves London. She has revealed the track listing for Give My Love to London, out in September.

"My new record is finished – 11 songs that I am so proud of. I'm looking forward to you hearing the album and to reading your reactions...September seems so far away doesn't it? In the meantime here is the tracklisting, most of them are brand new songs with two covers (I'm sure you will work out which they are). Love, Marianne x."

Give My Love...

Marianne Faithfull’s long-awaited new album is called "Give My Love To London" and will be released in September of this year. The album that was recorded in London as the title suggests features a band consisting of Ed Harcourt, Rob Ellis, Dimitri Tikovoi and special guests Warren Ellis and Jim Sclavonus.

Most of the lyrics were written by Marianne herself while the music was written by icons such as Nick Cave, Anna Calvi, Roger Waters, Pat Leonard, Tom McRae and Steve Earle.

Furthermore a luxury photo book by Rizzoli will be published worldwide on October 8th to commorate Marianne’s 50th anniversary as a recording artist. Rizzoli’s website has more information on it and you can already pre-order the book online on various websites. Lastly Marianne will be kicking off her world tour in October.

"She Sat There Softly Singing"...

Having just read a post by the lovely Jon who went to see Marianne Faithfull in concert over the weekend, I thought I would post this 1999 documentary about the lady.

She is an absolute unique talent that never really seems to have found the commercial claim she deserves. No one else has that voice, that's for sure. And then there is her life story...
