The second semi-final of Eurovision was last night. This time around I only managed to predict 7 out of the 10 songs that went on to compete in the final tomorrow night.
Here are my votes from last night, based on the song
quality, the performance and (of course) the outfits. The scale is 3-30. The
underlined ones got through to the final and the ones in bold were my
predictions to the final:
1. Serbia - 23 (beautiful song, very well performed. A much better start then the first song in the previous semi final!)
2. FYR Macedonia - 15 (Decent, but unspectacular track and performance. Awful outfit!)
3. The Netherlands - 10 (Oh, the poor dutch people. They have never left the semi finals and they were not about to do it this year. And WTF was the singer wearing????)
4. Malta - 9 (How this managed to qualify is beyond me! Bad song, bad singer and the worst dancing ever!)
5. Belarus - 16 (I thought this might slip through, but kinda glad it didnt.)
6. Portugal - 11 (Also thought this would qualify - it was a bit offputting though)
7. Ukraine - 13 (How on earth this was chosen over the Max Barskih track is beyond me. Yes, it may be "fun" but it is still a dreadful song - and a football theme song no less!)
8. Bulgaria - 17 (The song is not awful, for once there were "some" stage effects - but the singer stumbling alone on the stage during a dance song she could hardly keep up with = no joy)
9. Slovenia - 11 (Zzzzzzzzzzz)
10. Croatia - 15 (I added this on my qualify list at the last minute instead of Lithuania - god knows why!)
11. Sweden - 27 (Hurrah! The winning song looked great and was well performed! Sweden 2013 it is!)
12. Georgia - 6 (Oh dear - just awful! Did get a few points since he did stay on tune (I think) during this painfully chaotic "song")
13. Turkey - 14 (Catchy song but truly an awful singer!)
14. Estonia - 18 (The song is nothing special, but very well performed).
15. Slovakia - 5 (Oh yes, some heavy metal crap. Just what I wanted - NOT!).
16. Norway - 22 (I like the song but the singer is nothing special and they could have done a lot more with the lights and the choreography)
17. Bosnia & Herzegovina - 15 (Did not expect this snoozefest to get through, I must say)
18. Lithuania - 21 (Now, I like this one and the only reason why I thought it might not qualify was because the backing track was way too low, making it sound like a karaoke track. Hopefully that wont be the case tomorrow. Also, the singer might want to tone down his MJ movements...)
It will be fun to see what happens tomorrow. I still think that Sweden will win, with strong showings from Serbia, Greece, Norway, Albania, Iceland, UK, Italy and (sadly) Russia.
Here is the running order tomorrow:
1. UNITED KINGDOM
2. HUNGARY
3. ALBANIA
4. LITHUANIA
5. BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA
6. RUSSIA
7. ICELAND
8. CYPRUS
9. FRANCE
10. ITALY
11. ESTONIA
12. NORWAY
12. AZERBAIJAN
13. ROMANIA
14. DENMARK
15. GREECE
16. SWEDEN
17. TURKEY
18. SPAIN
19. GERMANY
20. MALTA
21. FYR MACEDONIA
22. IRELAND

Happy Eurovision weekend :)
