Time now for something brand new. Taken from the Erasure Christmas album Snow Globe (which has been getting pretty good reviews), "Gaudete" is the first single, released tomorrow as a special limited Christmas card CD single.
The band purposely went with a "stripped-down" and "eerie" feel to many of the tracks on Snow Globe. Vince Clarke told Billboard: "Everything about Christmas has been written already. We thought it would be more interesting to look into the darker side of the season. For a lot of people, Christmas is not a happy time." But back to "Gaudete". The song is an old medieval Latin carol which has been dressed up in a very Erasure-esque version, complete with a video that suits the song very well. I really like this one.
