Tracks...

It's that time again - with everything from Eastern Euro-pop to the ,a-hem, Icelandic "princess of pop", this lot includes several "Blast From The Past" acts, as well some newer ones. Enjoy!

OMG - I did miss this one... Slap my wrists, dear.

First, let me tackle the "meh" tracks. I never did like Richard Marx, and that track has not altered my opinion. Grimes started out well, the video is dramatic enough, then..? Oh dear. I usually like Cazwell, despite all his R'n'B-ness, but this one just got on my tits. And as much as I love some of her classics and her fab voice, this attempted comeback by Miss Taylor Dayne is just pants.

Coming to an "on-in-the-background-cable-station" in a Spanish apartment near us in February, no doubt - Scooter and Vassey couldn't have made more of a generic "Ibiza choon" if they had dragged Avicii and Two Unlimited into a blender. Ditto Erasure's new one, unfortunately - talents rather wasted there, in my opinion. Substitute "Vauxhall" for "Ibiza", and I could say similar for Zhu. Never having been "wasted" (as if), I probably won't see the appeal until it's kicking-out time in some club at 6am :-)

That Russian/Eastern European one is painfully and blatantly such a rip-off of Modern Talking, it became ridiculous. And methinks pretty little Troye Sivan (is that a name?) has raided his sugar-daddy's La Roux/Hurts/Patrick Wolf back catalogue for ideas. Shows promise, however...

Leoncie is just completely... well, Leoncie, really. There can be no other! On the other hand there may be a contender - WTF was that "Bye, Felicia" thing all about? Camp as tits, dear, if not, well... really a song as such. And speaking of camp - Xelle are just kitsch-tastic! As is Cher. Obviously.

I always have time for Miss Brucken, and this one was rather good, if unlikely to make much of an impact upon the airwaves/charts. Shame - I wonder if there are any remixes in the wings?

I might be being somewhat cynical, but are The Veronicas by any chance an "X-Factor" product? Sounds like they are trying to be the next Leona/Alexandra/Adele...

So, to the best of the bunch... Kazaky, of course, are brilliant, sexy, and it is soooo good to see that the stilettos are back! But even our fave houseboys are only runners-up - there's a distinct "winner" here, and that is Yasinka! Absolutely wonderful. Reminds me of DeLaDap (if they went partying somewhere nice and hot, of course!).

Fantabulosa selection, as ever - you always manage to bring an "oomph" to blogging, darling! Luv ya!

Glad you found something in here to enjoy :)

The Veronicas have nothing to do with "talent" TV - they have released a couple of albums and had a big worldwide hit in 2007 with "Untouched". "You Ruin Me" has become a huge number one in Australia and is one of my faves in this batch, along with Kazaky, Yasisnka, Erasure and Claudia Brucken.

'Til next time :)
