Believe That Love Survives...
So, we have entered the month of Eurovision. Normally I would be quite excited. But after suffering through every single one of the songs on offer this year I have to say that I wasn't even sure if I wanted to watch it this year! The selection has not been this bad since the late 90s, when I completely stopped following the competition. If you haven't heard the songs yet, don't say I didn't warn you...
So, out of 39 songs I was able to find just two that I quite like. For the first time in years (probably since Gina G finished at number eight in 1996) I am rooting for the UK entry. Yes, of course the reason is mostly the fact that it is performed by Bonnie Tyler! But it also a decent song, especially compared to the rest of the competition!
But my favorite this year if the one from Ireland. I usually hate the songs from there, but in this year of utter mediocrity "Only Love Survives" sounds like a breath of fresh air. It's still a bit tacky and it sounds like it's trying to be a chart-type-of-song that could also appeal to your mother. I really like it though and hopefully it will do well.

I've not been brave enough to listen to the whole set of contenders for Eurovision, but my friend John-John has, and he agrees with you - a pretty poor showing all round. Bonnie's song is good, if a little bit "Leanne Rimes" for my taste, and the Irish one is catchy (even if it and the video are a second-rate rip-off of David Guetta).
No matter what, we shall be singing along, wearing silly costumes and eating silly food, partying our tits off at Dolores Delargo Towers, as we do every year! Jx
I recommend a LOT of alcohol, and some decent music on standby for afterwards!
There should be enough alcohol to sink a battleship! And with our record collection, there's music to satisfy all tastes... Jx
