Sorry it has taken sooo long to catch up with this one (and I know there's a new compilation to listen to now), but...
I am no fan of Messrs Paul, Derulo nor Ocean (gay or not), so they are out of the window. Miss Del Ray is beginning to have the "Dido effect" on me: "same old, same old - pick it up, bitch!"
Ms Vickers' song went straight in one ear, out the other making no impression in between. Luara is better - very Eurovision.
You know well enough how much I love PSB, and "Axis" is magnificent! I always have time for RuPaul and her drag entourage - fab! OKSI - camp as tits, dear, but they appear to be singing "Christmas Dance"? In May? Oh, those Russians... And, of course Willam and her potty-mouth always makes me laugh. Even better was the comment on YouTube - "Has Selena Gomez seen this? I hope so."
I adore that (second) song from Miss Moyet; but then again, everything she touches turns to gold. But the star of the show? Army of Lovers vs Gravitonas (of course), and that video is fab!
The AOL song is really quite good, I must say. And I am going to need the new album from Miss Moyet, not to mention (obviously) the Pet Shop Boys album.
I think Lana Del Rey is very, very good. A fresh breath of air in a time where we have things like Rihanna, Ke$ha and Katy Perry constantly on the radio and in the charts. Dido has had her moments (still does) but IMO she has never come close to to making the kind of music Lana does.
Of course I already knew that Paul, Derulo and Ocean where not exactly your thing ;) I do think that some of Derulo's hits are among the better chart hits over the last couple of years (although that says nothing about the quality of the music). I really enjoy most of what I have heard so far from Frank Ocean and I think I may have to get his album. Same goes for Miss Vickers - I enjoyed her debut album and her new single reminds me of some of the better pop music that was coming out in the UK in the early 00s.
My faves of the bunch: Pet Shop Boys, Oksi, Alison Moyet, Diana Vickers, Lana Del Rey and of course the Army!
Funny thing is, I actually think that her big breakthrough single "Video Games" is one of her least interesting songs. But then again, I guess that should be expected...

I never said I disliked Miss Del Ray, I'm just getting a little tired of her. This video sums it up best, I think :-)

I didn't dream you'd dislike Miss Del Ray ;)
