Invisible
In September Pet Shop Boys will release a new album,
entitled "Elysium", on Parlophone. The album was produced in Los
Angeles by Andrew Dawson and Pet Shop Boys. To give an idea of the album’s
sound, a short film for the album track “Invisible” can be viewed online now. The film was made by renowned Los Angeles
artist/film-maker Brian Bress.
Like several tracks on "Elysium", "Invisible" features backing vocals by singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy and veteran singers Oren, Maxine and Julie Waters whose long singing career spans sessions with The Jackson Five to Adele.
Members Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe spent three months in
Los Angeles working on the project earlier this year with US producer Andrew
Dawson.
"We wanted to make this album in a different
environment," Pet Shop Boys explained.
"Despite frequent visits there we have never made an
album in Los Angeles. Working there with Andrew Dawson has enabled us to make a
very fresh-sounding album."
Dawson added: "It was really exciting for me to work
with Pet Shop Boys - the breadth of their career has been phenomenal.
"They both have incredible ideas and I've definitely
learned a few tricks from them on making records."
The first single to be lifted from Elysium will be sent to
radio at the beginning of July, but Pet Shop Boys have treated fans to new
track 'Invisible' in the meantime.
The accompanying music video for 'Invisible' was directed by
Brian Bess.
I am obviously majorly excited! Pet Shop Boys are my favorite group/duo of all time and they already have an incredible body of work. Bring on the new stuff!
