30...

Picture of Bananarama

Bananarama are about to celebrate their 30th anniversary with the release of 30 Years Of Bananarama on CD/DVD.

The CD will feature their greatest hits and for the first time on DVD all the music videos that you like. It will be out on July 9th, and on July 11th they will play at the Hit Factory concert in Hyde Park.

Well, I was hoping they would do something to mark the occasion. A new album, a nice boxset or something. But this is at least better then nothing, since I have been wanting a DVD of their music videos for years! It is also great to finally see a greatest hits CD from the girls that includes tracks that were recorded after they left PWL

Thirty years! *Sigh". I have followed them ever since they were just "those spiky-haired cool girls in baggy jumpers who couldn't dance"...

I never did find out what "Aie A Mwana" meant, either. Jx

I became a big fan after "Venus", and their "Drama" album seriously rekindled my interest all these years later. I now own all their albums and CD singles - but despite that, I dont know what "Aie A Mwana" means either!

So many of my favorite artists from my childhood have already reached the 30 year milestone - Duran Duran, OMD, Pat Benatar, Human League etc - and this year, even Madonna!

Terrifyingly, Blondie's first album was released thirty-five years ago this year... Jx

Dear god. One must not think too much about these things (but, last year marked the 50th anniversary of The Supremes!)

It is truly alarming how fast the time goes - it just does not feel like so much time has passed. And sadly it seems that with all the major talent getting older (and often less productive), we dont get that many new true talents instead...

I genuinely can't imagine reminiscing over Cheryl Cole's career. More likely, I will look back at the Diamond Jubilee footage and think "who the hell are Jessie J or Will.i.am, anyway?" jx

Hehehehe - I must start doing the same - like, whatever ;)

I am very much looking forward to this collection actually, since I have been lusting after a DVD for years! Hopefully it will include ALL their videos!

I'm off to pre-order the CD, buy a massive box of bubblegum, some pink and green legwarmers, a lot of hairspray and then I'm gonna party to "Venus" like it's 1986 ;)

Oh, and you can imagine how pleased I am to see "Every Shade Of Blue" on the tracklist!

Oh, of course "Movin On" as well - one of my fave Nana's track ever!

And I was just saying about a week ago how I wanted a Best Of that included their whole career, not just the PWL years. I guess the girls heard me ;)
