Elton as Madonna wins the Golden Globe for Best Song - instead of him! |
Poor old Elton John is after some headlines, once again attacking Madonna. On A TV interview in Australia, these were his comments:
Why is she such a nightmare? Sorry, her career is over. Her
tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger c***.
If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record
like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great
pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly.
But no, she had to go and prove… she looks like a f******
fairground stripper. She’s been horrible to Gaga.
"I honestly do not understand his need to trash the
crap out of her over and over again. He says she has no authority, but
apparently he has authority? He needs to hate on her," a friend of the
Material Girl tells me. "To say her tour is a disaster is just silly. She
is selling out arenas, singing new material and a few classic hits. He will be
singing the same old songs until he dies."
Madonna is estimated to have sold more than 300 million
records versus Elton’s 250 million, plus his career has an extra 10 years on
hers. Elton's is worth approx $355
million while Madonna is worth more than $650 million as of last year, with an
estimated additional $250 million paycheck from the "disastrous" MDNA
tour. Madonna's current album MDNA is the fifth best selling album of the year and has already sold more then Elton's last three album combined.
"Ultimately, she doesn’t care what he has to say about
her in public or private," one insider tells me. "She has nothing to
prove to anyone, especially Elton John."
Today on Radio 3AW’s Breakfast Show, entertainment reporter
Peter Ford said he had been contacted by Elton John’s publicity
team. Elton PR is claiming that it’s all rubbish and that
all the quotes are made up. (Yet they were shown on TV!)
An hour or two later, they came back and said that it was
all off-the-record.
Elton John is furious that it was put to air. It was meant
to be a private conversation between Elton John and Molly Meldrum.
Elton’s been around long enough to know that if there’s a
camera there and someone’s standing behind it with a red light on… It’s still
being recorded.
Speaking with 3AW Breakfast, Molly Meldrum said he was taken
aback by Elton John’s comments attacking Madonna…
"I love Elton, but when he launched into Madonna I slightly
went into shock because Madonna also is a friend of mine. But I have to say
that she has been very naughty of late".
Peter Ford said Molly Meldrum had a good enough relationship
with Elton John to not do the wrong thing by him. Unless you actually specify it’s off the record, then
everything is up for grabs. Ford also said he had been asked to give Molly Meldrum’s
phone number to Elton’s publicity team, as Elton was demanding he speak with
him, but he respectfully declined.
Elton has of course been more focused in the last years to attack Madonna's career then to actually focus on his own. Madonna however has refused to become a part of the whole thing, even sending out love to him.

So perhaps that bitter old bitch should just keep his mouth shut at all times then? The venom spewing from that man suggest that he must be a very unhappy and unstable individual, to say the least!
Pop singer Madonna urged Russia on Monday not to jail three
women from the punk band Pussy Riot for staging a protest in a church, while
jailed former oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky likened their trial to a medieval
inquisition.
Maria Alyokhina, 24, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, and
Yekaterina Samutsevich, 29, face up to seven years in jail for storming the
altar of Moscow's main cathedral on February 21 and belting out a 'punk prayer'
calling on the Virgin Mary to rid Russia of Vladimir Putin, the prime minister
who has since returned to the presidency.
Madonna weighed into a trial which the opposition says is
part of a wider crackdown on dissent by Putin after the biggest protests since
he rose to power in 2000. In Moscow to give a concert and open a branch of her own
fitness club, the American singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and actor added her
voice to other international singers such as Sting and Red Hot Chili Peppers
who have appealed for leniency.
'I am against censorship and throughout my whole career I've
always promoted freedom of expression, freedom of speech. So obviously, I think
that what happened to them (Pussy Riot) is unfair,' Madonna, whose songs
include 'Like a Virgin' and 'Like a Prayer' and have also courted controversy,
told Reuters Television. 'I hope they do not have to serve seven years in jail. That
would be a tragedy,' she said. 'I think art should be political. Historically
speaking, art always reflects what's going on socially. So for me, it's hard to
separate the idea of being an artist and being political.'
The band's stunt infuriated church leaders and the Kremlin
and upset many Orthodox Christian believers for whom the Christ the Saviour
Cathedral is a sacred place of worship and its pulpit a place reserved
exclusively for priests. Accused of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred, the
three woman on trial said they wanted their performance to be considered as a
political act directed against the church merging with state security services. 'There is a big difference between criticism and hatred.
Protest is not hatred and it is not violence,' Alyokhina told the court on
Monday.
