The Lost Are Found...

Claudia Brucken is releasing a new album in November - and she's doing some live dates in the UK to promote it.

Claudia’s latest album is a collection of mysterious, moving pop songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, originally written by the well known and the less well known, entitled The Lost are Found, produced by Stephen Hague. If you happen to be near and around the following cities, you will be able to see her perform a selection of songs from the album – this means seeing Claudia perhaps sing Bowie or the Pet Shop Boys, which might be expected, or Claudia singing Julee Cruise, which seems to have been in the air for a while, but also Claudia singing maybe singing the Bee Gees, the Electric Light Orchestra and the Band, which is less expected, and Claudia singing Stina Nordenstam and Stephen Duffy, which really sends the world spinning.

This is where Claudia will be, singing dramatic, intelligent songs in her own particular way, some from The Lost are Found, some from her own fantastic repertoire, songs that now belong together:

The partnership with Stephen began when Claudia recorded a particularly wistful song by The Electric Light Orchestra, ‘One Summer Dream’ (the b-side of the hit "Mr Blue Sky"), which led to thoughts about other songs that might unexpectedly sit around it.  Together Claudia and Stephen  recorded 11 songs for the new album.

The Lost Are Found opens with a track from 1986, containing songs written between the 60s and the 90s, released in 2012, that finishes with a track from 1969, and yet the songs all exist in no time at all, where memories, and feelings, and sadness, and new encounters are not timed or dated, but simply exist in the moment that all great songs inhabit.  The result is a beautifully recorded album telling a story about loss and loneliness, where uncertainty, fear and despair is transformed into creative energy, where the songs themselves exist in lonely places, even those by David  Bowie, the Bee Gees and Electric Light Orchestra.

Pet Shop Boys? Julee Cruise???? As if I wasn't excited enough about the album, I am now dying to have it! And after watching her fantastic live DVD that was released this summer (my personally signed copy was a godsend!) I wish I could see her live. Maybe someday...
