Albums Of Past And Future...
With a new year comes new music. And while I don't think it is any secret that I did not find 2012 to be a particularly exciting year in music, there were still some good albums coming out. Here is a quick look at 10 of the ones I was most excited about in 2012:
Sadly, there were not many others that peaked my interest. But new albums from Madonna, Sandra, PSB and Kylie in the same year is a treat!
Now, a quick look at what to expect in 2013:
HURTS - Exile - 11.03.13
SUEDE - Bloodsports - March 2013
DAVID BOWIE - The Next Day - March 2013
THE WANTED - Third Strike - March 2013
CHER - TBA - March 2013
DEPECHE MODE - TBA - March 2013
SARAH BRIGHTMAN - Dreamchaser - April 2013
We can also expect new albums from Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, Diana Vickers, Lady Gaga and Dido. There have been rumours about new albums from Janet Jackson and Dannii Minogue as well, but let's see what happens...
Here is a taste from few of these upcoming albums (the Suede song is being offered as a free download and is not the first single from the album).

Ah yes - albums by so many of our faves in one year is not bad going, and fingers crossed 2013's batch is worth waiting for...
I have to admit, though, Dido bores me rigid (and that rapper is bloody awful) and I am still not awfully keen on Miss Brightman nor her ghastly plastic polyfilla-face.
However, you know I adore The Hurts, and it is a joy to hear new stuff from Suede again. I'm excited about the Cher album, too!
The most welcome of all, of course, is the RETURN OF DAVID BOWIE! Needless to say, I am wetting my knickers with the news!
Jx
I grew tired of Dido a long time ago, but I must admit that I do liker her new song (despite the rap on it). I adore Sarah however and "Angel" is really beautiful.
I hope that the new Suede album will be better then their last one, some 10 years ago. Somehow I suspect they might end up like Garbage but I hope not - their first three albums were fabulous, not to mention many of the B-sides from that time. I hunger for a throwback to their glory days.
Bowie has not done much that reached my ears since the mid 80s, I must say. But with tracks like "Jump, They Say", "Hearts Filthy Lessons" and "Thursday's Child" coming out since, I am sure he still has something to bring to the table. And the music world seems quite excited (although it has not been confirmed if they too are wetting their knickers) ;)
I am SOOOO excited about the Cher album - just wish she would release the bloody video, some new pics etc. I NEED a Cher fix!!!
I'm really looking forward to all of your picks for 2013.. especially Cher, Sarah and Hurts...I love your blog as we really seem to share the same musical tastes...was wondering if you've heard anything about the covers album by Boy George...was really excited about that but haven't seen any news on it...have a Wonderful New Year and keep up the good work
Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoy the site :) And it is always great to find people with similar music tastes!
Sadly there has been no word yet on the Boy George album. It was announced back in April and was supposed to be the first of several new releases on a new official site, boygeorge.com. That site only seems to have his Tweets, all these months later. Hopefully the project will surface this year, I really enjoyed his version of "Video Games" by Lana Del Rey.
Rest assured, if I hear anything more on the album I will post it here :)
