Tracks...

Time for the first collection of tracks for 2013. The year does not start off all that interesting, with a very disappointing Depeche Mode single and new songs from Hurts and Sarah Brightman that are not bad but just don't deliver what I had hoped for. Videos for both songs have disappeared from the internet (the Hurts video is currently being re-edited to remove some "controversial" matters, including burning crucifixes - hello 1989) and I have no idea what happened to Sarah's video. I don't dare to try to upload either of those myself, so I am not including them for now.

But here is my first selection of the year. We have amongst other things some drag queens (courtesy of Boy George), an ex-Calling singer making a bloody Adele song work (for me, at least), a porn star with an unusual partner and Svetlana Loboda being rather dramatic over here in Iceland (she did NOT pop in for coffee - I am obviously very distraught!)

So pleased you liked the Avicii vs Nicky Romero and the Killian Wells tracks, they are rather fab.

Suede's new one is OK, but may take some more listens. Mlle Farmer still leaves me cold; sorry. And I must admit, although the boys do a rather good job on "Skyfall" I still prefer Haringey's finest Adele...

Miss Loboda and her ever-inflating lips has certainly taken a bit of a mellow turn, hasn't she? She always sound like she is in tryouts for Eurovision, but I don't think this would win. S'ok I suppose.

However, for sheer chutzpah, my vote once more must go to The Supreme Fabulettes! They are just wonderful! If I can get the money together for a ticket I may well go and see them at Leicester Square Theatre in March!

The Suede song does get better with more listens - I was slightly disappointed when I first heard it but I quite like it now. The same goes for the one from Miss Loboda - not very instant but it really gets better with each listen.

The videos for the Avicii and Killian tracks really sell the songs IMO. Both are excellent, especially the Avicii video which is still making me laugh! And then there are of course the Boy-Queens - you would have to be deaf not to hear who wrote their tracks (they even try to sing like him!). Good fun - I hope you will be able to see them live.

I think my fave of this bunch is Alex Band - he has such a great voice that he manages to make me forget all about bloody Adele.
