Coming out on November 7th: a new Greatest compilation from the Magnificent Miss Diana Ross. Loads of great tracks of course - but no real surprises. Still, a must have for my collection (besides, I like having several different compilations to listen to in order to mix things up a little). Glad to see that this release includes tracks like "The Last Time I Saw Him", "Surrender", "Lovin Livin And Givin" and a track I didnt have in my collection - Ive Got A Crush On You, which she did with Rod Stewart a few years back. None of these are included on the fantastic Love And Life compilation from 2001.
No tracks from the following albums are featured: Baby It's Me (one of my favourite Diana albums), Ross, Red Hot, Working Overtime and I Love You. I personally would have liked to see some tracks from these albums, since they are rarely represented on her compilations (I dont think "Pieces Of Ice" and "Dirty Looks" have ever been featured for example), and it would have been especially nice to have at least one track from the I Love You album. Also, I would have liked to see "Swept Away", "Your Love", "Touch By Touch", "Best Years Of My Life", "Missing You" etc included - but hey, I sense more compilations in the future for that :) Besides, it would have to be a 10 disc boxset to make me somewhat satisfied...
So, here is the tracklist for this release - which shall soon be mine. It comes out in the UK on November 7th (released by U.M.T.V). You can already pre-order it on amazon for just 8.99.

Featuring highlights from her years with The Supremes plus the planet-dominating solo megahits of the 1970s, 80s and 90s, 'Greatest Hits' will remind music lovers what an astonishing career Ms Ross has had. This collection alone contains 22 UK Top 20 hits!
Alongside solo and Supremes-era classics like 'You Can't Hurry Love', 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'. 'Upside Down' and 'When You Tell Me That You Love Me', 'The Greatest' also pulls together Ms. Ross's classic duets with Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart and Ray Charles.
Lest we forget, as well as being a recording legend, Ms Ross was also a style icon and the campaign for this album will seek to remind fans, old and new, of her many glamorous and cutting-edge looks.
There are very few artists in recorded music history with a commercial track record this astonishing -- we're talking Elvis, Stones, Beatles, Madonna, Michael Jackson, a very few others... Plus, the recent success of TV retrospectives from the likes of Bette Midler (The Best Bette) and Barbra Streisand (The Ultimate) signals that there's a real market here...
UPDATE:
A brand new TV commercial!
