"Born To Run" was released in 1975 and became the breakthrough single for Bruce Springsteen. Since then The Boss has sold more then 120 million albums, won 20 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes and an Academy Award. He is still going strong at 62, releasing a new album next month and about to go on a massive world tour.
There are a lot of tracks I love from him and "Born To Run" is one of them. This live version from 1988 is absolutely amazing:
The only Springsteen song I liked enough to buy was Hungry Heart, which I adore. It is the man's talents as a songwriter that I admire him for most (that and his incredibly tight trousers of course!) - among my all-time favourite songs of his are Because The Night (Patti Smith) and Fire (Pointer Sisters). Jx
I love these two - I didnt even realise for years that "Because The Night" was a Springsteen song.
"Hungry Heart" is fantastic and one of my faves too. But there are loads of others I love, including "I'm On Fire", "Atlantic City", "Brilliant Disguise", "My Hometown", "Dancing In The Dark", "Cover Me" etc. But my #1 Springsteen song will always be the beautiful and haunting "The River".
He is a magnificent songwriter who has written some of the best lyrics I have ever heard. Long may he reign!
