I really haven't been that great at putting up tracks this year. I haven't had much time, and it feels like there hasn't been much new music coming out that I've enjoyed a lot.
As it turns out though, now that I am putting together a new post of tracks there have been quite a few songs coming out this year that I do enjoy. So here is the first batch - more coming soon.
Great minds think alike, dear - I am just working on a new compilation blog myself...
Of the selection you have chosen here, you already know I adore Kazaky, and I do like Agnetha's and OMD's releases.
I'n not overly keen on Adelen, nor Samantha Jade - jolly enough for background noise, but then so were Atomic Kitten, and I don't want to hear them again. Lana Del Rey covering Leonard Cohen is enough to send me screaming for the Prozac. As is anything by Dido.
Suede are always dependable - if the tune is slightly over-familiar now they've been playing it for twenty years. Måns Zelmerlöw sound like a Coldplay tribute act. And as for the resurrection of Johnny Hates Jazz - all I can say is, time is a terrible thing :-(
Alison Moyet's single is very good - a new direction for her that I think could be worth exploring. But the one that made me sit bolt upright and really take notice? Miss Lara Fabien, of course - and you knew I would say that, loving Monica Naranjo's theatricals as I do!
Even more intriguing, the Lara Fabien video is merely one of eight short films that make up an artistic whole called Mademoiselle Zhivago. Most intriguing - I must see if I can find the whole thing... Jx
