Tracks...

Time for a few tracks now, including the recently released video for "Trouble's Lament" by Tori Amos, a wonderful new video from Sophie Ellis-Bextor and a fantastic new charity song/video by Kylie Minogue.

I am sooooo sorry - just caught up with this new selection! (Understandably with the combination of packing the house up to move, the sunshine and just sheer brain-boggled-ness, I am somewhat distracted lately). Anyhoo - onward and upward!

I don't rate Miss Amos's folksy efforts one little bit - dull. That Nico & Vinz song is pleasant enough - in a sort of Police-circa-1983-album-track-sort-of-way, but doesn't get me hooked.

Adelen - jaunty though she may be - just serves to remind me that the horror of six weeks of bloody World Cup bollocks hoves into view this week, and the pubs will be full of morons wherever we go... Miss Shakira, on the other hand, has inadvertently made a more anthemic "Brazilian-sounding" number for the summer season (although I do wish she'd cut the rap-crap). Speaking of rap - she may be a drag queen; it may be meant to be funny; but I had to switch Adore Delano off before I threw something.

So, inevitably in any such musical potpourri there have to be some winners. I, of course, adore Our Princess and "Crystallize". But the best of the best? Miss Sophie Ellis-Bextor!

Now, I am surprised at that! I look forward to your next collection - and, once I can get my head in some semblance of order, I must do another of my own... Jx

Hope your head is back in order - I must admit I have been feeling the same way over the past couple of weeks for some reason...

I couldn't agree more about the bloody World Cup and all the hoopla about it! I do love the trashy Adelen though and I agree about the Shakira song, it would be much better without the rap (there is also a full-on World Cup version of the song that is of course much inferior). The Nico & Vinz song took a while to work for me but I quite enjoy it now.

The Sophie song (and video) is indeed excellent. I really like her new album and "Love Is A Camera" is a highlight. So that, along with Miss Minogue are my personal highlights of the batch.

Looking forward to your next selection! H
