I Hear A Symphony...

While Diana Ross fans wait for the release date of the expanded edition of her 1977 album Baby It's Me, news are coming out that an expanded edition of the 1966 classic Supremes album is also on the way!

The album, released in February 1966 (recorded in 1965) peaked at #8 on the US album chart and includes the #1 title track and the #5 hit "My World Is Empty Without You".

Here is the original tracklist:

Side one

"Stranger in Paradise" (Alexander Borodin, Robert C. Wright, George Forrest) – 3:03
"Yesterday" (John Lennon, Paul McCartney) – 2:28
"I Hear a Symphony" (Holland–Dozier–Holland) – 2:41
"Unchained Melody" (Alex North, Hy Zaret) – 3:47
"With a Song in My Heart" (Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart) – 2:02
"Without a Song" (Vincent Youmans, Edward Eliscu, Billy Rose) – 2:59

Side two

"My World Is Empty Without You" (Holland–Dozier–Holland) – 2:33
"A Lover's Concerto" (Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell) – 2:35
"Any Girl in Love (Knows What I'm Going Through)" (Holland–Dozier–Holland) – 2:59
"Wonderful! Wonderful!" (Sherman Edwards, Donald Meyer, Ben Raleigh) – 2:51
"Everything is Good About You" (James Dean, Eddie Holland) – 2:59
"He's All I Got" (Holland–Dozier–Holland, Dean) – 2:46

The original plan for the album was to have The Supremes record an entire album of pop standards, to be entitled There's a Place for Us. The album was indeed recorded, but shelved and left unreleased by Motown until 2004. It is now out of print and hard to find. We will have to wait and see if the tracks from that release will be used for this expanded edition, or if there will be some completely unreleased goodies from the Motown vaults included....

The expanded edition will be released as a 2 disc set on October 9th!
