Cher kicked-off her Dressed To Kill Tour last
night in Phoenix, Arizona.
The night began with special guests Pat
Benatar and Nick Geraldo taking to the stage at around 8:30PM to perform some
of the former's biggest chart hits, such as million-seller "Invincible", "We
Belong", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", signature tune "Love Is A Battlefield" and finale number "Heartbreaker". One concert-goer tweeted,
"Pat Benatar was on point. Best opening act I've seen." Fellow 1980's
act Boy George was in the audience.
Around an hour after Benatar's act, Cher
herself came on-stage at around 10:30PM. Dressed in a colourful ensemble with
an over-sized matching head-dress, the 67-year-old entered the stage singing "Woman's World" from her latest album Closer To The Truth. She then performed
1999 million-seller "Strong Enough".
The third song on the set-list was the
tour's title track "Dressed To Kill", again, from Closer To The Truth.
The legendary singer then dug out her Cher
At The Colosseum outfit and a couple of older tracks for the set-list, in the
form of Sonny & Cher's "The Beat Goes On" and the ever-popular "I Got You
Babe", "duetting" with Sonny on the big screen screen behind her.
Cher's 1970's #1 hit singles "Gypsies,
Tramps & Thieves", "Dark Lady" and "Half Breed" allocated the opening
concert's sixth, seventh and eighth spots on the hit-filled set-list, as she
dresses as the story-songs' title characters.
The Academy Award-winning actress returned
to the stage to re-enact her introduction scene in 2010 movie Burlesque, in
which she sings "Welcome To Burlesque". She followed this with her other song
from the movie, ballad "You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me".
Sticking to recent tracks, Cher then
performed "Take It Like A Man" in a gold
outfit.
The enduring icon then performed the sit-down
segment of the show, performing her 1995 hit "Walking In Memphis" as her 12th
song in the concert, before belting out the 1989 country-tinged million-seller "Just Like Jesse James" and its 1990 US Top 20 follow-up single "Heart Of
Stone". Bare-footed, Cher then sang upbeat early 1990's #1 single "The Shoop
Shoop Song (It's In his Kiss)".
In her trademark outfit of black
body-stocking, leather jacket and humongous black curly wig, Cher rocked
late-80's tracks "Bang Bang", "I Found Someone" and the multi-million-selling "If I Could Turn Back Time".
Cher returned the Phoenix audience to
deliver her biggest hit, 1998's massive-seller "Believe", in a
glam-rock-inspired costume.
2013 hit ballad "I Hope You Find It", from
her Closer To The Truth album', is performed as the final encore, as she floats above the
audience.

WELCOME BACK!!! Been missing you and thinking about you, especially this week with Kiss Me Once out ;) Yes, Kylie and Cher are back - but the comeback of Marky Mark steals the show!!!
So glad that everything is going well for you - hug Petey from me, OK? ;)
I love the Kylie album - "Sleeping With The Enemy" is SO my new favorite! The limited box set is beautiful, the 7" has been given several spins, the LP has been played quite a lot, the deluxe CD is on repeat and I am just waiting for the CD singles to arrive. So good to have a new Kylie album to boogie to!
Again, WELCOME BACK - you have been missed! Hugs, H&T
The opening of the D2K tour sounds like it was fab (although I cannot deny I haven't perused the multiplicity of handheld videos you've posted) - but half the photos have gone already sweetie (sniff, sniff).
Anyhow, at least now we know why Marky has been so quiet of late - he's not been moving house at all, he's been Cher's body-double for the previews!
Jx
I haven't watched any of the handheld stuff either (as you know, I don't like spoilers...). Weird about the photos though, they all still work for me on two different devices...
And yes, it was clearly as we suspected. I really should have known it for a fact though - after I had to turn Cher down due to my own body double work for Lana Del Rey in "Tropico", it only makes sense she'd contact MM!
Odd - maybe the website was down when I looked last night, but the pics are indeed all now present and correct.
You body-double for Miss Del Ray? And there's me thinking it was Shakira... Jx
I'm way too classy for that ;)
