The third and last post for now featuring some of my favorite recent tracks.

Once again, sorry I haven't previously "tuned in" on your newest selection. I have finally found the time and energy to listen to them all...

Let's get the obvious ones out of the way first. Olly Murs? A joke, surely? Miss del Ray, again? Beautifully done Art Deco video, but what the fuck has her ethereal simpering got to do with The Great Gatsby? Once again, the more of the soundtrack I hear, the less likely I am to ever want to see the movie. BB Brunes should have been OK - being French'n'cool'n'all - but actually I just thought "Brandon Flowers" and that was that. Mr Fredvang, on the other hand, sounds like an X-Factor runner-up. Very earnest and all, but unlikely to make much of a dent on the eardrums.

Eurovision seems like such a long time ago! - Miss Berger's song is indeed fantastic, and I know our party gave her quite high votes. Unlike Belgium's "Chris de Burgh's illegitimate love-child" Roberto Bellarosa and that whiney nonsense.

Mr Barsikh has done some good stuff but his latest could do with a bit of a remix, or am I missing something? I have also liked a lot of Electric Lady Lab's output, but this one's a bit half-arsed - and I hate that Chipmunk vocal trickery! Speaking of autotune, Getty Domein is trying his hardest to be an upbeat Mory Kante, but actually ends up sounding more like Haddaway with a vocoder. Not a bad thing, I suppose.

So it is a toss-up (geddit?!) between the gayer-than-gay combination of RuPaul, Lady Bunny and a naked man flicking his towel ("Look, Ma! No Hands!") and the ever-wonderful OMD. I think the 80s throwbacks win the day...

I'm glad you did find something in this lot to enjoy :)

I must admit, with all the dreadful things in the charts, things like Olly and Jason Derulo do creep into my brain my default, being the least awful things on the radio. And if the new Kylie "song" is any indication of where she's going, I fear that she may become one of the Olly/Jason characters that start popping up in these posts by default. "Timebomb" and "Skirt" are the worst things she has ever done - but I try to have faith in my princess...

This latest from Lana is not one of her best and the first time I start to think that she needs to move a bit away from this sound. It's not bad at all, but she's done it better before.

Brandon Flowers is fabulous, so comparing BB Brunes to him is only a compliment. I enjoy Mr Fredvang's song but it took a couple of listens to kick in and I'm sure it will be forgotten rather quickly.

For some reason Roberto really reminded me of Chris De Burgh as well, and the Mory Kante comparison also came into my head when I first heard the Getty track.

A remix of the Max track? Your wish is my command:

I much prefer the original though - that boy can do no wrong in my book! He writes and produces everything himself, which makes him even more interesting (and then there are his rather good looks).

The song from Electric Lady Lab serves as a nice taster from their forthcoming album, me thinks. Not their best but still quite good. I'm sure they will be back with a bang, treating us to another song when the albums comes out in September.

Overall I agree, the 80s throwbacks win the day (as usual).

Ah, that's more like it - I always think the gorgeous Mr Barsikh sounds better on dance music.

I agree wholeheartedly about the state of a lot of new music these days. And yes, Kylie's "Skirt" is terrible; a mess worthy of a rough slapper like Rihanna or Keisha, not a glittering Princess and gay icon.

We persist in trying to sift through the detritis, dear...
