Last night I finally got around to watching the DVD of Liza Minnelli's 2009 show Liza's At The Palace.
Excellent show (it won a Tony), despite the fact that her voice may not be as powerful as it once was. Still, Miss Minnelli is very capable of holding the audience under her spell for a couple of hours - the magic is still there and there truly is no other live performer quite like Liza.
My favorite songs during a Liza concert are her character songs, where she doesn't just perform the songs - she becomes them. A great example of this is her performance of "What Makes A Man A Man" (by Charles Aznavour).
It is Miss Minnelli's birthday on Wednesday - she will turn 68. So here is an early "Happy Birthday" shout out - and the lady herself, performing "What Makes A Man A Man":

It is an amazing song, and our Liza does a wonderful job with it!
